DURHAM -- Dr. Marilyn J. Telen has been named chief of hematology, a division of the department of medicine at Duke University Medical Center. Telen has concentrated on the study of transfusion medicine and immunology and other aspects of red cell biology during her medical career.

"Dr. Telen is an exceptional leader as well as scientist," said Dr. Barton F. Haynes, chairman of the department of medicine. "Her reputation as a clinician and teacher make her a role model for our young physicians in training."
