DURHAM, N.C. -- Christopher DiFrancesco has been named deputy director of the Duke University Medical Center News Office.

DiFrancesco,
41, will play a senior role in the planning and management of media
relations and corporate communications activities across the Duke
University Medical Center and Health System.

He joins Duke after
eight years at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he
served as director of research communications and previously as a
writer and assistant to the chief executive officer of the medical
center and health system. He also served for seven years as senior
public relations coordinator at Rochester General Hospital, a 526-bed
teaching hospital affiliated with the university.

DiFrancesco
holds a bachelor of science degree in communications from the Rochester
Institute of Technology and received the school's Distinguished Alumnus
Award in 1999. He is a member of the National Association of Science
Writers.
