Chancellor Washington Welcomes ‘Turn The Tide NC’ Participants

Earlier today, Eugene Washington, MD, Chancellor for Health Affairs at Duke University and President and CEO of the Duke University Health System, provided welcoming remarks for a ‘Turn The Tide NC’ event hosted by the Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON).  The event aligns with the national ‘Turn The Tide’ campaign created by U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy to combat the opioid epidemic impacting communities across the country.

Rear Admiral Susan Orsega, the Chief Nursing Officer of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, delivered the keynote address at the event.   Mandy Cohen, MD, Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, also delivered remarks focused on reducing prescription substance abuse in North Carolina.
