Problem Gambling Awareness - as North Carolina Legalizes Sports Betting

North Carolina legalizes sports betting March 11, 2024.

North Carolina legalizes sports gambling March 11, 2024. Duke Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences John Mitchell says there are several signs to watch for in yourself or friends to identify whether gambling is becoming a problem.

  • Increase in time or money spent on gambling
  • Unsuccessful attempts to cut back on gambling
  • Attempts to conceal from others about gambling
  • Negative impacts on relationships or work
  • Need to borrow money for any debts caused by gambling

Online betting begins on the 11th while the state lottery commission works out licenses for locations for in-person betting.
