DURHAM, N.C. – Duke Health has appointed Kristie Barazsu as president and chief operating officer for Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital, effective immediately.

Barazsu will be responsible for the overall management and operational performance of the 123-bed acute-care hospital in Mooresville, N.C., working with Duke University Health System leaders to develop and implement strategies that enhance patient care and support Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital team members.

"I'm humbled to help bring the spirit of Duke Health to the Lake Norman community," Barazsu said. "I’m excited to keep building strong connections with our patients, community, and team as we continue delivering high-quality care to those who need it most."

Barazsu brings more than 20 years of health care experience to the role. She most recently served as associate chief operating officer for Duke University Hospital.

“Kristie’s proven track record of driving transformation will be a valuable asset to our patients and team members as we grow Duke Health’s presence in the Mooresville community,” said Greg Pauly, group president of Duke University Health System. “Her leadership will support our commitment to bringing Duke Health’s excellence and innovation to more patients, in more ways, across more communities.”

Barazsu supported the transition of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center into Duke Health. Duke Health completed the acquisition of the hospital on April 1.
