DURHAM, N.C. -- Jesica Santillan remains in critical condition as of 7:30 a.m. (EST) at Duke University Hospital.

While the new heart and lungs that she received Thursday, Feb. 20, are working well, the results of a CT scan done at 3 a.m., (EST), Feb. 21, revealed that she has experienced significant swelling and bleeding in her brain, which is life threatening.

The care team is aggressively treating this latest complication and will continue to monitor her neurological status closely. We continue to keep Jesica and her family in our prayers.
