Duke Health hosted the first ever Surgical Robot Week along with Duke Surgical Education and Activities Lab (SEAL). The comprehensive staff training initiatives held within SEAL raised the awareness of surgical robotics while providing an opportunity for learning, skill enhancement, and displays of surgical innovation.

Surgical Oncologist Dr. Sabino Zani, Gynecologic Oncologist Dr. Emma Rossi, and Robotics Nursing Coordinator Stacy Williams also connected with operating room colleagues to showcase advances in robot-assisted surgery through various contexts.

SEAL utilized one type of surgical robot during this year’s Olympics. Staff can receive training time and education during simulated events to enhance their knowledge base on the system.

Duke University Hospital has several robotic surgical systems that are used across many service lines. They are available for patients to receive the latest advancements in robot-assisted surgery.
