Durham Early College for Health Sciences is preparing students for careers in nursing, surgical technology, allied health, and clinical research before they even graduate high school.
Meet ninth grade student Lindsey Lemons and her classmates as they experience a Medical Exploration (MedEx) Day to get hands-on experience in their future career pathways.
“This school is a launchpad for Durham’s future health care leaders who are embarking on careers that change lives and make a real difference in the world," said Tom Owens, M.D., Duke Health Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer.
Through this partnership with Durham Public Schools and Durham Tech, Duke Health is modeling how health systems can reinvest in their communities to build homegrown, skilled care teams and improve health outcomes for all from the ground up.
