Duke Children's Hosts First Prom for Patients
More than 100 patients, guests and volunteers attended a celebration of milestones
Duke Children's Hospital held its first prom on Sat., April 22, 2017, for current and former patients age 12 and up.
More than 100 patients and their guests danced, ate, posed in a photo booth and even smeared whipped-cream pies on Duke staff as part of the fun.
Some pediatric patients who had been hospitalized even traveled down to the children’s hospital lobby to participate.
The theme was “The World is Yours.” Guests received passports they could stamp, and took photos with cardboard cutouts of monuments such as the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower. Food at the event offered guests tastes of Italy, China and more.
The event was organized with the support of the Meg’s Smile Foundation, Headbands of Hope and The Monday Life.
