Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing this weekend, but keeping warm through the winter increases the threat of an invisible killer in your home.

Carbon monoxide kills hundreds of people every year in the U.S.

Here are some ways to protect yourself & your family this winter:

  • Inspect & maintain fuel-burning appliances
  • Clear debris from dryer, furnace, & stove vents
  • Only use portable generators, stoves & grills outdoors, 20+ feet away from the home
  • Install CO detectors on every floor near each bedroom
  • Travel with a CO detector in case your AirBnB or hotel doesn’t have one

Watch this video to learn about the symptoms of CO poisoning and the unique way Duke treats patients by taking them “underwater”.
