DURHAM, N.C. -- Jesica Santillan underwent additional tests and examinations this morning to assess an acute change in her status. A brain CT done at 3 a.m. this morning revealed an increase in the swelling along with some bleeding. She was evaluated by a neurologist whose assessment was consistent with irreversible brain damage. This has been discussed with the family. Additional studies to assess brain function are under way and we continue to do everything we can to support her.
