John P. Mordach, MBA, CPA
John P. Mordach, MBA, CPA, is Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Treasurer of the Duke University Health System (DUHS). Prior to joining Duke, Mordach served as Senior Vice President and CFO for Rush University Medical Center and the Rush University System for Health.
Mordach is an exceptional executive leader with deep experience in academic medicine and profound understanding of healthcare finance and operations. Drawing on his diverse senior financial roles over the past 30 years, he brings great value to DUHS during this time of extraordinary change in the world of health and health care. During his time at Rush, Mordach helped lead the organization through significant growth opportunities and strengthened financial results that catalyzed six ratings upgrades. Prior to his leadership at Rush, he held leadership positions at Loyola University Health System (now Trinity Health), Edward Health Services Corporation, the University of Chicago Hospitals and Health System, and Tufts New England Medical Center.
Mordach has been a recipient of the Chief Financial Officer of the Year (large not-for-profit sector) award by the Chicago Chapter of the Financial Executives International Organization. He was also twice named one of the top 150 Hospital and Health System Chief Financial Officers in Becker’s Hospital Review. A New England native, Mordach holds a B.S.B.A. in accounting from Merrimack College, where he graduated summa cum laude, and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He also holds a CPA.
